If you agree that 1) Parents are the boss, 2) Tutors should work as an extension of the school and classroom teacher, 3) Kids respond only if they see that we genuinely care and believe they can succeed, Academy Learning would love to meet you!
Salli teaches:
“You really go to his school and meet with his teacher?” The father of a struggling high school student could hardly believe his ears. The director of the new tutoring and academic advancement center in Arden Park was offering to meet with the student’s teacher in order to collaborate on his success. This concerned parent was looking for some extra help from a tutor. He found a tutor for sure, but he also found a Founder and Director who was a passionate dedicated professional who was willing to go the extra mile for his son. Salli sees a key role for the Academy in leveraging every possible resource available to help a child succeed, starting with the parents and classroom teacher and extending to the efforts of the Academy staff and to study tools and technology. As a parent herself, Salli recognizes what a daunting challenge parents of school-age children sometimes face. She says her reward is hearing parents say “thanks for giving us back our family time.”

Christian teaches:
Christian has been journaling for over 15 years. He started journaling as a way to express and work through his difficult emotions when he started his recovery from compulsive overeating. Over the years journaling has helped him to recognize and walk through how he plays a part in the actions that caused these difficult emotions. In recent years journaling has been a great help to review his part in his interpersonal relationships and to be able to sit back and review where he was 15 years ago and how far he has positively progressed today. Christian believes all students of all ages can benefit from an additional emotional outlet that is safe and a creation of their own making, particularly with the added stresses of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Christian comes to Academy Learners Centers as a postgraduate of The Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, with his Master’s Degree of Arts in Teaching.

Aloha,
I have worked extensively in the field of beauty, health & wellness, self development and education for over 32 years. Building the image that works with the individual not against them through makeup artistry, skin care, consulting, training, and teaching, which has led me to work in all areas relating to the beauty and self development industries .
I also have decades of experience in film, TV, print, runway, theatre, pageants, cosmetics, as well as, director, instructor, teacher, counselor, curriculum development and writer, marketing, and outreach program development for several modeling, acting and self-development based schools throughout the country.
Working for Barbizon was a true blessing. Over 18 years as the local” Education Director” and “Director of Operations” nationally and in Hawaii, I was blessed to help develop talent. Supporting the dreams of our youth is a great passion of mine! Watching a person’s growth and being allowed to nurture and assist them in their growth has been pure joy!
I hold a degree in Child Development which has made me truly value the growth and development of each individual through the medium of performing arts in education. As well as, I hold a beauty operator’s license in two states, Hawaii and California.
I truly believe that a strong self – esteem is the foundation for all success in life. This type of education is a vital part of all learning systems. When raising my own two, now adult children, I did witness this at home as well as within their schools.
I have been honored to work with thousands of children and teens throughout the years nurturing their self – growth through the arts.
My passion in life has always been about helping to turn dreams into a reality through team work and using supportive ideas, whether it’s in the field of beauty, the performing arts, or through the educational system.
The gifts I have received back have always outweighed what I have given.
