K-12 PARENTS; ASK YOURSELVES IF THIS DESCRIBES YOU:

A DEDICATED FAMILY K12 ADVISOR & ADVOCATE

It would be invaluable to establish a long-term relationship with an experienced educator or school counselor who knew my family and my child’s learning profile and history.  At a basic level, I could get help choosiung the right schools, summer programs, alternative learning options and even sports and extra-curriculars. This K12 Advisor should work for me, be free of any conflicts-of-interest, and provide good-faith counsel in light of my family’s priorities and values. I could grant this professional access to my child’s records and provide background and insights on signifcant past events or changes at home or school. If any learning or behavioral challenge emerged, I could provide access to select health data or other information that would help us discern what would be best for my child.

A PERSONAL EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT RECORD

I would like to establish a secure, Personal Education Record (PER) and plan for my child. Perhaps it could connect to the school’s SMS (Student Management System) and integrate with school messaging and online learning platforms, but mostly it would contain a true Adaptive Learning Plan, and include responses to developmental intake surveys (from the pediatrician’s office, plus academic and other assessments. i could then share it with new teachers, a school counselor, as well as other professionals. The app would store records and information, and keep us on track as they progress through school and prepare for college and/or career.

AN EDTECH APP ACTUALLY DESIGNED FOR FAMILIES

i would like an app that would centralize information about my child’s learning and development, include relevant health factors, and help my family get more organized towards preparing my children for their futures.  I think it would help me contribute as a parent in helpful, meaningful ways; be actively aware of and reinforce teacher goals and collaborate to manage and monitor my child’s overall development, learning gaps, and challenges.

NO-CONTRACT TUTORING FROM ACADEMIC MENTORS

For those times my child does need K12 Tutoring, On-Demand Homework Help or other academic support, I would like to be able to connect to someone who already knows my family, my child’s history and academic strengths and struggles and won’t pressure me into signing up for something we don’t need. If my child’s Tutor could also be a Mentor, matched for a common interest in a sport, extracurricular art or interest, I know my child woud respond better.
